Forest School

Forest School

We are delighted to offer weekly Forest School sessions for all children, delivered by Achieve 4 All.

Session Timetable

  • Reception and Year 1: Every Monday morning
  • Years 2 to 6: A half-term block of sessions on a rotating basis, held on Monday afternoons

What is Forest School?

Forest School provides children with regular opportunities to explore and learn in a local woodland environment throughout the year.

Children benefit by:

  • Developing confidence, independence and resilience
  • Improving their physical health and wellbeing through active outdoor learning
  • Experiencing nature and observing seasonal changes first-hand
  • Building problem-solving, creativity and teamwork skills
  • Developing imagination, curiosity and resourcefulness
  • Learning about native animals, insects, trees and plants
  • Understanding habitats and how natural ecosystems work together

Clothing Requirements

Forest School takes place in almost all weather conditions. Sessions may only be cancelled if conditions are unsafe, such as during high winds.

Please ensure your child brings:

  • Wellington boots
  • Waterproof trousers or an all-in-one waterproof suit
  • A thick waterproof coat suitable for outdoor play
  • Plenty of warm layers underneath
  • A woolly hat during colder weather

Important Reminders

  • Children will attend Forest School in rain and cold weather.
  • Lightweight summer jackets are not suitable during autumn and winter.
  • Scarves should not be worn, as they can catch on branches during play.
  • Please ensure all clothing and footwear are clearly named.

Having the correct clothing helps children stay warm, dry and comfortable, allowing them to make the most of their Forest School experience.
